Trekking down unpaved roads, and even making new ones, is not something unfamiliar to me. The desire to make my own way and do things I've never done before stems from my curious nature. Though things don't always work out long term, the skills I have been developing since my childhood have all played a unique and instrumental role in what I do today.
Age and experience do not always go hand in hand. I played my first professional gig at just 12 years old, as a wedding violinist, alongside my sister. From there, the two of us have gone on to play all over the state of Florida, known as "Sister Violins." We are hired to perform in and for varying types of venues and events. From everything to church services, rallies, and weddings to corporate events, birthday parties, private gigs, and festivals, we can play music to suit any occasion. For more information on our services, instruments, and music, visit our Facebook page by clicking below.
At the age of 14, I began to mentor new musicians just starting on this journey. I continue to teach at the private music studio owned by my sister and me. Our mom, Amy, acts as our business manager and handles our scheduling and registrations. Click here to request more info about Sister Violins' Music Studio.
According to my mother, I was speaking in complete sentences at only 18 months old. Words have just always seemed to come naturally. As a young child, I loved to write poetry, and this love was rekindled when I gained an interest in songwriting. I never thought there was much to the chaotic, random thoughts I had, but people started to express interest in them. I now share my many continuous writings and "musings" on my blog. There, you can find short stories, travel blogs, music appreciation, and deep thoughts. Click below to visit my blog.
At one time, I was serious about pursuing filmography as a career. However, that is not what God had in mind. I still enjoy being behind the camera, and this interest has come in very handy as I have started to produce my own videos. In fact, when I was 15, I filmed and edited a Public Service Announcement which is still playing at several local movie theaters. I have, on several occasions, had the opportunity of addressing large groups to talk about topics that are dear to my heart. I have had the opportunity to share my story, my knowledge, and my thoughts on such topics as music, health, faith, who I am, the entertainment industry, history, and more. I think it is important to use the voice and inspiration God has given me to inspire and help others. While everyone else would be enjoying and discussing the wonderful new film in theaters, I could not wait until the DVD came out so that I could watch all the behind the scenes, directorial, and commentary footage. Growing up, I always knew more about the process of making a film than about the actors themselves. It is so amazing to see the process and "story behind the story" which brings the movie itself even more to life. While I have mainly only directed my projects, I have had the chance to be Assistant Director of a Children's Theatre Camp and also Director of a benefit show for an international organization.
God has a way of bringing us into situations that we never dreamed of being in. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be producing my own music, but here I am! Not only am I producing an album of original music, but I am also working on two additional albums of which I am the arranger, singer, and producer. Once again, I find myself learning as I go, but I know that, even when I don't have all the answers, God does, and He will provide them in His time.
Nursing Home Ministry
One of the many ways my sister and I give back to the community with the talents God has blessed us with is through our Nursing Home Ministry. For the last 12 years, my sister and I (Sister Violins) have performed twice a month (sometimes more around holidays) at local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. To be able to create, to express, to share a connection, an emotion through music, this is the greatest experience of my life! When I felt God's call to start writing, composing, and arranging original music, I didn't know where it would lead me. But I followed and, within two years, I had written and arranged twelve original songs. Composing music has been life-changing and drawn me closer to God and who He created me to be.
