The thumping of her heart echoes in her ears. Questions race through her mind, “What will he think of me?” “What if he doesn’t love me anymore?” She looks around at all the people; families reuniting, happy homecomings. Would that be her? Four years is such a long time. Her hands grow sweaty as she searches the crowd, breathless. There, in the back, his camouflage uniform stands out from the crowd. As he makes his way toward her, she smiles and runs to him, throwing her arms around his neck.
