Expanding Horizons - An Album and a Record Label

This is a big deal for me. My first album. On my very own record label. I still can't believe this is real.

A few years ago, I had an idea to start my own indie record label. At the time, this album was not even a consideration. Now, it is the debut release under the label! It's been so surreal watching my idea become a reality with Ashes and Embers Records alongside my sister, best friend, and business partner for life, Dr. Ashley Finke.

Preliminary Recording Setup - July 05, 2023

This particular project has been over a year in the making. From concept to actual release will be close to 14 months. At the beginning of 2023, I began preparing. Come June, the band was working double time to rehearse and polish the songs for the album. Then came July, and it was time to record. It was a 6 day affair from setup to breakdown. What started as an experiment with just a hope that it would be "release-able" had actually worked!

With a definite plan to release the project, I knew it was the perfect time to start the record label. That's when the real work began. I was diving deep into a part of the industry I had not previously explored. It has not been an easy task, but I hope you will agree that it has been worth it!

DOUBLE TROUBLE X2 at Tropical Winery

Making music with your best friends is a gift not afforded to all. Playing with DOUBLE TROUBLE X2 has been a balm I didn't know my soul needed, and I am so grateful to have this everlasting memento of our friendship and the music we make together. Through this experience, I have been in awe of God's guidance, protection, and strength that has made this project a reality. I am so grateful for my bandmates (who are my dear friends and sister) who joined in this project - that began as an experiment - without a second thought. They have supported me in so many ways throughout this process, and I love them so much! And I could not have done any of this without my mom who has been involved in this project every step of the way in both creative and business dealings.

When I dreamed up this project a year ago, I truly had no idea where it would lead. I know this is only the beginning of a long journey, and I can't thank God enough for where I've been and where I'm going. Although that leap of faith may seem scary, it's always worth it because His plan is so much better than my dreams.
