A foursome of laurels...
In General Discussion
Maybe - Emily E. Finke WINNER - Original Song (Lyrics) Beyond Entertainment Family Film, Screenwriting, & Music Festival This is such a tremendous honor! I am so grateful to the Beyond Entertainment, Inc. Film Festival for this award for my song, "Maybe." While the music video for "Maybe" has won 2 awards and been selected for 3 film festivals, this is the first award for the song itself. I am so blessed by this recognition of my song and its lyrics. I can't wait to receive the award in the mail and add it to my small collection aside my ISSA award! It is truly humbling to see this song touching people all over the world. Here is the updated collection of laurels... what a foursome!

Friends and Music
In General Discussion
I feel so blessed to have such talented friends! A great big CONGRATS to my friends Pat and Peggy of DOUBLE TROUBLE for such a wonderful concert tonight at the Circle Theatre (the same venue where I shot the music video for "Maybe"). You may recognize Double Trouble as being the duo that Ashley and I sometimes play fiddles with. A couple of months ago, I shared a video of me singing "Amazing Grace" at a performance we played with them. Tonight's show was very memorable and was a wonderful night of music and laughs! 🙂 I'm so happy for them and so grateful to know such world-class musicians and support their music. The music of Autumn...
In Vintage Music
I can't believe the first day of Autumn is in 2 days!! It seems like yesterday it was just the first day of Summer... but I am so excited for Autumn! I absolutely love the early evenings and the soft lights that the season brings. Here in FL, we don't get much of a change in weather until late October/early November, but at least I know it's coming! As I'm sure you know, I greatly enjoy creating playlists both for myself and for other people. I have many public playlists on Spotify and Apple Music that I curate for different moods, themes, seasons, etc. I realized only today, that I don't have a playlist for Autumn! How that is possible, I am not sure, but I think that is something that needs to be remedied immediately. And... I could use your help! What are your favorite songs that embody the spirit of the Fall season or are lyrically specifically about Fall? Are there any songs that come to mind that you think perfectly accompany the changing weather, dropping temps, soft lights, and colored leaves? Autumn is known for being a "cozy" and "romantic" type of season. If Autumn were a genre of music, what do you think it would be? Perhaps jazz?? Or maybe an old-timey ballad? It's a very interesting question to ponder, isn't it? I imagine sitting beneath a tree of flame-colored leaves with a gentle but crisp breeze blowing in my face carrying a scent of spiced cider as I listen to a melancholy song crooned by Bing Crosby... how idyllic! Well, that is my Autumn daydream! What does the Fall season make you think of? Leave me all of your Autumn-inspired song suggestions in the comments, and I will curate a playlist from them! Here are a few of my favorite, perhaps obvious, Autumn-inspired songs to get the ball rolling. Enjoy! Soft Lights and Sweet Music - Vic Damone Autumn Leaves - Jo Stafford September Song - Ella Fitzgerald

Theatre days...
In Adventures
I was feeling rather nostalgic looking through old pictures, so I thought I'd share them with you. These photos are from 2017 when I was in a local production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." I have so many wonderful memories from this show! It was a great deal of fun and an excellent experience that allowed me opportunities in set building and design, costuming, and hair and makeup in addition to the acting, singing, and dancing. For my first "official" theatrical production, I was thrilled to be in the chorus which actually gave me more opportunities to be on stage, sing more songs, and play different characters than some of the other supporting roles (as you can see from some of the different costumes I got to wear). I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane with me and reliving this moment with these photographs! 1. Rehearsing the Act I closing number "Go, Go, Go Joseph" (Can you spot me?) 2. Rehearsing a scene in Act II 3. Rehearsing the Act II number "Benjamin Calypso" 4. In the ladies' dressing room before the show 5-6. Pre-show pictures with friends 7. A quick pic between costume changes 8. One of my favorite moments from the show in Act I's "Jacob and Sons" 9. The entire cast and crew on the Act II set (Do you see me?) 10. The big dance number, "Go, Go, Go Joseph" 10. The female members of the chorus in our Act II opening costumes

Christmas is coming!
In General Discussion
I know it's not even Autumn yet, but for entertainers... it's time to get ready for Christmas! Don't worry, I will give Autumn it's fair time to shine. It is my favorite season, after all. 🙂 But in my world, Autumn and Christmas pretty much co-exist. Whether it was practicing music for our orchestra's Christmas concert, designing the year's new collection of greeting cards for my greeting card business, or recording Christmas music, it is difficult to imagine a time in my life where the late Summer - early Autumn months were not filled with preparations for the Christmas season. This year has been no different. Ashley and I have been busy the last couple of months recording a Christmas single. Per tradition, Gene and I are gearing up for our Christmas video series. I am preparing for the Christmas of Classic Films, Music, and T.V., and maybe a few surprises along the way. It's going to be a great Christmas season, especially here in The Community, and I cannot wait for all the celebratory events we will be able to share! What are you most excited for this Christmas, either here in The Community or in your own life? If you're wondering what song I am releasing this Christmas... there just might be a hint in the video below... 😉

What I'm listening to... "The Old Lamplighter"
In Vintage Music
Hi friends! Thought I'd share this sweet song with you all. I absolutely adore this song, and I just recently acquired a songbook that includes it, so I have been playing it alot lately 🙂 I'm not sure there is a song with a sweeter story, and this performance by the Sammy Kaye orchestra is just perfect. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

It's Livestream Time!
In General Discussion
Hi friends!! How are you doing? I have missed you all greatly during my intermittency here. Things are finally starting to wind down from the ISSA Awards and the after-rush of work, and I feel as if I can breathe again. All that being said, I think it's time for another Community Livestream! What do you think?! I was thinking another music game livestream would be fun, but we could also do a movie-themed game livestream, or a concert-esque livestream, or anything else! Let me know your thoughts 🙂 As for day and time, here are a couple of options. Let me know what, if either, works best for you. I'm looking so forward to spending an evening with you all!

1 year ago today... Alexander's Ragtime Band Music Video 1 year ago today, I released the music video for my cover of Irving Berlin's "Alexander's Ragtime Band"! The concept of this video was so different from all my other videos, but I absolutely love how it turned out. What do you think? Should I do another 1920s inspired video soon?

So excited to add another laurel to Maybe (Official Music Video)!!! Thank you to the Canadian International Faith & Family Film Festival for selecting the music video for "Maybe" for the festival. Green, Break Every Chain – Steph Carse, Survival - Kylie Berry, Brian Lopez, Maybe - Emily E Finke, SFTK (Service For The King) - Ray Knowledge.

Acceptance Speech
In General Discussion
@Kevin M. Kraft asked to see my acceptance speech, so here ya go! Sorry if it's hard to hear me. The podium mic was not picking up very well. I hope it is still enjoyable and you are able to relive that exciting moment with me! 🙂 Interestingly, I was not prepared for the butterflies in my stomach as I went up to accept my reward. I've been on stage countless times and spoken to crowds before, but this was very different! I was out of breath and couldn't remember any of what I had prepared to say! Haha! I don't even remember that much of what I DID say, so I'm grateful my mom caught the moment on camera. I was just relieved when Ashley told me after the show that I only said one "um". 😂 It felt like I stood at the podium for 5 minutes trying to get out a cohesive thought, but looking back at this footage, I guess my brain went into auto-pilot as I didn't stumble over my words as badly as I thought. All that to say, it was a very exciting but surreal moment. I know I've said it before, but I will say it again, I couldn't be more blessed for the recognition of this project. You all know how much "Maybe" means to me. When I created the song and the subsequent music video, I was just trying my best, with all of my passion and love, to bring the vision in my head to life. The award for music video of the year is incredible, but what really shocked and humbled me was seeing the clips of my video playing on that big screen along with the other winning music videos. I was not expecting that, and it was so cool! I hope you're enjoying all these photos and videos because there are many more to be shared 🙂

I was so honored to have the opportunity to do a set at the ISSA Awards After Party on Saturday. Everyone that performed did such a spectacular job! I loved getting to hear the diversity of music in the ISSA family. Here are some highlights from my performance. I sang "It Had to Be You" (Jones and Kahn, 1924) and "Maybe" (Emily E. Finke, 2022). I will be posting the full set *exclusively* here in The Community very soon 🙂. Enjoy these clips!
