Familiar (No. 1)

What if you were different?

Would life have been the same? Would I have different feelings if you were bigger, smaller, if you were a different shape? So many thoughts, so many memories. The laughter, the tears, heartaches, and celebrations. Nostalgia sweeps over me as I touch your bare walls. How good it feels just to stand where I have so many times before. Through the cobwebs and the dust, you remain unchanged. A lifetime of memories lived out in your presence. My heart is so full and my mind overwhelmed, but I smile because I know I am home.

Week 6 - 100 Word Short Story Challenge.

I have been challenged to write a short story every week, inspired by a one-word prompt. The only catch is that the story has to be EXACTLY 100 words. The one-word prompt for this story was ‘Familiar.’
