A Winter Dream | A Poem

Updated: Nov 8

ree

The world is sleeping,

so must I,

while Winter nights are long.

Wait, O Sleep!

I'd rather dream,

while Winter sings its song.

The world is dreaming,

so must I,

for Winter dreams are rare.

Quick, O Dreams!

before the spring

shall wake us with her fare.

When all is waking

so shall I

when Winter yields its song.

Wait, O Spring!

before you sing,

for nighttime still is long.

The world is resting,

so must I,

but Winter nights are clear.

Look, O Star!

I count them all,

before they disappear.

The world is sleeping,

so must I,

while Winter sings its song.

Sing, O Night!

a lullaby,

before this dream is gone.
