A Silent Cry | A Memorial Day Poem

ree

A silent cry, an echoed prayer

from jungle floors and beaches fair

The sound of boots all marching on

while bated breath is held at long

Jet engines whir amidst a crowd

red, white, and blue becomes a shroud

A bugle plays, a tear will fall

for those who answered freedom’s call

A silent cry, an echoed prayer

a poppy red for you to wear

All little things reminding me

the price of freedom isn’t free
